Together, looking up at that distantly shining star
and thinking it was destined that we met,
pretending to be casual, I try to touch your palm, but
you only smile gently. 18 year old Kei Kusanagi, who is the main lead of the group and the main character, suffers from a very rare chronic disease which causes a comatose state known as "standstill". He often gets standstills whenener he is under severe emotional distress, which causes time to stop for him. At age 15, he fell into a very long standstill lasting for three years, after witnessing the suicide of his elder sister. Thus, even though he's technically 18, he retains the body of a fifteen year old.
After witnessing a UFO near a lake, weird things begin to happen to Kei and his friends. He gets surprised the next day when he finds out that their teacher quit in the middle of the semester, and was replaced by the same alien he encountered the previous night, who now appears to be their new homeroom teacher - Kazami Mizuho. After several encounters with each other, Kei is taken to her spaceship, where he finds out more about Mizuho's identity; but unfortunately, things begin to turn out for the worse when he accidentally strikes Marie, a tiny helper and computer of Mizuho, resulting in putting them in a very dangerous situation. Eventually when the two of them get caught by the school's principly after being locked together in the storage room, their relationship begins to change when Kei's uncle impulsively tells the principle that Kei and Mizuho are married. Later, when the two of them do get married later through legal paperwork, the situation is kept hidden from Kei's friends while Ichigo Morino (another one of Kei's friends) constantly tries to pair Kei up with Koishi, while Kei and Mizuho's love and attraction for each other only continues growing further.
Since these feelings are getting stronger and the number of worries are increasing,
never let go of the heart you once embraced, no matter what happens.

Written by Yosuke Kuroda, directed by Yasunori Ide and produced by Bandai Visual, the story of Onegai ☆ Sensei (Please! Teacher) revolves around a tight-knit group of friends and how they go through bizzare events once a new teacher arrives at their school, along with coping with life changing experiences, as well as intimacy, dating, and relationships. It was then later adapted into a a manga and light novel. The anime ran from January 10, 2002 through March 28, 2002 with a total of 12 episodes, including an OVA episode released on DVD on October 25, 2002.
